How the Club Works

Do I have to receive a box every month?

No. Unique selections are created every 4 weeks, but you can change the frequency with which you receive your tasting box whenever you want to.

Is the cost of the box the same every month?

Yes - All regular Tasting selections are always £19.95.

Can I pay by automatic debit of my payment card?

We can automatically debit your account each time you receive a tasting box if you tick the relevant box when paying online or sign section a) on the How to Pay section of your invoice. Your instruction will continue as long as you remain a member of the club, and you can cancel it at any time. Save the bother of writing cheques and ensure you get every box you want, when you want it!

Can I have my Tasting Boxes sent to a different address?

Yes you can. Many customers prefer to have their boxes delivered to their work address, for example, and have the invoice delivered to their homes. Simply change the delivery address online or let us know on your payment form.

If I would like to delay my next box or cancel – how soon will this take effect?

We ask you to let us know within 10 days of receipt of your Tasting Box if you would like to change the frequency of your boxes, delay the next one, or cancel completely. Provided you do this, your options will be changed immediately. If, however, your next box has already been processed when we receive your changed options, then we will contact you to let you know, and we will apply the changes from the following month.

Can I have the box on a specific date?

We cannot arrange delivery on a specific day. Your box is always sent to you at 4 week intervals, or 8 weeks, or 12 weeks, etc. if you ask us to change this. If you ask to delay your box until a specific month, then we send the box at the beginning of the month you have requested. You can also ask us to send your next box after a specific date.

The Chocolates

Are there any selections that just have dark/milk/white chocolates in them?

Our Classic selections include a variety of milk, dark and white chocolates and are for those who love to embrace the full range of chocolate genres. Purist and Dark selections are available for those who tastes run deeper and darker. These selections are brimming with uncompromising dark recipes high in cocoa solids. We also have the Elements selections which is alcohol-free.

Do you offer any alcohol-free boxes?

Yes - Our Elements chocolate selections are always completely alcohol-free.

Are any of the selections nut-free/dairy-free/gluten-free?

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee that any tasting selections are nut free as they are all produced in an environment where nuts are present and may therefore contain minute traces of nut oil. Similarly traces of dairy or wheat may be found in our products. Dark selections will be comprised of dark chocolate only, but some of the fillings may contain cream or other dairy products.

What are the club’s Special Collections?

In addition to the various monthly selections members are also entitled to receive exclusive Special Collections. One of these is the Chocolatier Excellence Collection, which contains the highest scoring chocolates from the past year. We also make seasonal boxes such as the Christmas Collections and Easter Collections. All of these are made-to-order, and are strictly for members only!

Members' Benefits

What does a membership card entitle me to?

With a membership card you will be able to receive a 5% discount in any of our stores. You can also quote the numbers over the phone to receive your discount, our use them to activate your membership online. Once you have done this you will automatically receive your 5% discount for your online orders with Hotel Chocolat.

How do I get my membership card?

Firstly, we send you the Introductory Selection so that you can try our chocolates. You are under no obligation to continue after this point, but if you do agree to receive further selections and become a member then we will send your Membership Card at the same time as your next selection. You will get a separate letter including your card and are then entitled to receive a 5% discount on Hotel Chocolat purchases online, on the phone, by post or in our stores.

What do you actually do with my scores?

We keep a record of all the scores returned to us by members, and we calculate the average score for each chocolate to 2 decimal places. At the end of the month, we then award the coveted Chocolatier of the Month prize to the winner, and we give a selection of your comments back to all the Chocolatiers. All scores are also entered into the Chocolatier of the Year award, and of course, a summary is published in the Club News so that you can compare your own scores with the club results.

If I score my chocolates late, will my scores still be counted?

Yes, every score is included. If the box you are scoring has already been finalised for the Chocolatier of the Month award, then your scores will be included towards the Chocolatier of the Year, which is awarded in December. Your membership number will automatically go into the next prize draw, whenever you score!

Using Our Website

How do I activate/register my membership online?

If you are not registered on the website.
Before you activate your online account you need to register your details on our website.  Go to www.chocs.co.uk and use the “register” button on the bottom right of the screen.  

Once you have completed your name and address, e-mail details you will have an option “Are you already a member of Hotel Chocolat Tasting Club.”  Enter “yes” and proceed you will then be asked to enter your membership number and activation key. Your introductory box invoice will contain both of these numbers (which are also on the membership card sent to you after your second box). Once entered, your account will be activated, enabling you to change your deliveries and buy our special collections online.

If you have already registered on our website
Go to www.chocs.co.uk  and log in with your registered email address and  password. Once signed in, you will need to select ‘Manage My Membership’ at the top of the page and you will be asked to enter your Membership Number and Online Activation Key. Your introductory box invoice will contain both of these numbers (which are also on the membership card sent to you after your second box). Once entered, your account will be activated, enabling you to change your deliveries and buy our special collections online.

How do I score the selections?

To score your selections online you will first need to have registered on the website.  See FAQ above ‘How do activate/register my membership online?’

Visit www.chocs.co.uk and log in with your registered email address and password. You can then click on the link to ‘Score’ underneath the Chocolate Tasting Club banner at the top of the page. This will take you through to the Score page and you can enter the box number of the selection you would like to score and click on ‘Continue’. You will then be shown a scorecard for the selection chosen.  For each chocolate give a score of 1-10. You can also enter comments for each chocolate, if you wish. Once you have finished scoring the chocolates click on ‘Score Now’ and your scores will be recorded and be used in future editions of Club News. Please note that this page will time out after 20 minutes, for your security.

 

  • We’re a friendly, laid-back kind of club and it’s up to you if you’d like to receive further selections or not – some tasters just take a selection every 2 or 3 months. It’s always your choice and you can change your mind at anytime.

Order our Introductory Selection of ultra-fresh chocolates using a discount code and get it for just £10.95 (incl. delivery). SAVING £10 on the regular price. The selection will be delivered fresh to your door within 10 days in letterbox friendly packaging.

Decide whether you wish to continue or not. Each monthly box is completely unique, but all are the same size as the introductory selection. You are not committed or obliged to take anything further and if you wish to cancel or change anything just let us know!
